Oviraptor figurine by CollectA
Oviraptor means "egg seizer" or "egg thief". it is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur living in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period. The Oviraptor was a small feathered dinosaur with a horny beak. It has long hindlimbs and four toed feet.
The oviraptor was named egg thief because it's fossils were found with nests and eggs. However it has come to light that they were actually brooding. They were caring for their eggs, not raiding the nest of other dinosaurs! There has also been juvenile birds discovered with adults which supports ongoing paternal care.
